Are Your Parrots Toys Sized Properly?

Many times people wast a lot of money on parrots toys because they are not adequately sized. Imagine if you were a small Conure and your owner put a Jumbo Spiddy in your cage. For many birds this can be a frightful and unsettling experience. Introducing adequately sized toys slowly is best done at a slow pace.

Some pet parrots and birds are not intimidated by large toys, however many of the toy parts may be difficult to get a beak or foot around, limiting their playing ability with the toy. Providing too small of a toy could pose a hazard for larger birds. For example, tiny bells and small pear links could contain parts that could easily come apart when manipulated with a large powerful beak. This obviously could be a choking hazard.

When buying parrots toys, consult your local avian expert if you are unsure which toys are appropriate for your type of pet bird. Many online stores provide sizing and species information for the associated toy.
